Structured Cabling Basics

Cat6 or Cat6A copper cabling from a central cabinet to outlets gives predictable gigabit (or better) performance. Fibre may link buildings or floors. Good practice includes cable management, labelling, test results for each outlet, and spare capacity in ducts and patch panels. We coordinate containment routes with your builder or facilities team so data doesn't become an afterthought.

Cabinets, PoE and Uplinks

Network switches often power phones, access points and cameras via PoE. That affects switch choice and heat load in the cabinet. Uplinks to the router or firewall need headroom for peak traffic. We work alongside your IT provider or MSP where you have one — we handle the physical layer and power; they retain IP design if preferred.

Commercial Wi-Fi

Consumer routers rarely cope with density, roaming between access points, or metal racking in warehouses. Enterprise-grade access points with a controller (or cloud-managed stack) give smoother handoff and centralised tuning. Site surveys help position APs to minimise dead zones without blasting unnecessary RF into neighbouring units.
